amuse-bouche – a small, savory portion of food served before a meal, typically without charge at restaurants
I know it’s not much, but it’s the thought that counts.
An amuse bouche is an “offering” from the chef. I like to think of it as a little thank you for coming in.
Amuse-bouche means literally to “entertain the mouth” (insert your own joke here).
I always feel like I’m in pretty good hands when I receive an amuse-bouche.
I believe that if the chef took the time to put together a nice gift for each of his/her patrons then the rest of the meal will receive the same attention to detail.
Usually I’m right.
